Mac Catalyst support Update?

Hi Kris,

I'm a Product Manager in Zendesk working on the mobile SDKs. I'm afraid that we don't have plans to support Mac Catalyst on our mobile SDKs at the moment as the cost of supporting this out-weights the number of customers who are asking for this on our iOS SDKs. This is something that we're always open to changing our position on however, if a sufficient number of customers demand it.

We are taking steps to allow apps to compile with Mac Catalyst support, so we're removing any blockers at compilation time before the end of the year. This is not support obviously, but if you wish to try compiling the Classic SDKs with Mac Catalyst enabled, you will be able do so.

It's a little disappointing to hear, but I do appreciate the straight forward answer. Thanks Mick.


When you say we'll be able to compile the SDK with Mac Catalyst enabled do you mean "It will compile and if it works it's a bonus but we can't provide support for catalyst specific bugs" or "It will compile and calls the the SDK from a Mac Catalyst build won't do anything"

The former. It will compile, and it may work for the majority of functionality provided, but we can't provide support at this point I'm afraid. I understand that this is disappointing to you, but we'll continue to monitor demand levels for Mac Catalyst support and re-assess if we see a clear increase in demand. 

For Mac Catalyst, the whole things fall appart because the Zendesk iOS SDK are published as binary xcframeworks... We cannot compile a mac-catalyst version because the binaries do not have the catalyst version in them.

This is highly disappointing... That ZenDesk does not support Catalyst, I can accept... But that the inclusion of the SDK actually prevents us from compiling a Catalyst version, to me this is ludicrous.

Hopefully, a future version of XCode will allow us to exclude the ZenDesk SDK when compiling for Catalyst.

I double all the requests above! After hammering down all the sophisticated internal dependencies it's a total disappoint to see that a 3rd party closed-source for which everyone is paying is blocking us from providing a native experience! We use many famous third parties.. Zendesk Support is the ONLY one! Why??
