Attaching Ticket History to Update/Close Trigger

Is it possible to automatically attach a ticket history to a response (either natively or by trigger) so the end-users can see the history of their ticket in their updates or when a ticket is closed?

For the benefit of future individuals who may have the same issue, there is a placeholed:

{{ticket.comments_formatted}}

that works for this purpose.  It is not in the list following the "View Available Placeholders" in the trigger, but it's in the placeholder reference here:
