If we remove dropdown options, it then distorts the tickets that have used that option on less than closed.
Correct me if I am wrong but re-adding those dropdowns won't help with reporting being messed up correct?

For testing purposes, I have deleted the Dropdown Option "Custom ticket fields" from some open tickets. After that, nothing happens because the default option is "-" for them.
Please notice that we highly recommend keeping "System ticket fields" without changes for avoiding any inconveniences like that
-> Note: If you deactivate the Type field, all your tickets default to Incident, which is one of the most-common ticket types.
