Assigning Ticket doesn't change assignee

Screenshot attached.... I change the Assignee (to myself) and then click 'submit as pending' and it does not change the assignee. Please advise what I've got wrong / why?

First thing to check is if a trigger is changing your ticket after you submit as pending.

In the ticket, change the 'Conversations' dropdown to 'Events'. This will show more detail on what has happened to the ticket. Look out for any trigger firing after you submit your change.
