what is the status on the new widget ? -> we tried the feature (integrated chat) which i believe is the one that just came out of Beta? it's lighter, but not customizable and as "descrete" as the previous.
And yes.. the payload.. it would be great if it was minified.
More-over the old widget creates a lot of HTTP requests - as we pay our CDN per request, it can easily be an expensive solution.
Thanks for the feedback and questions. The integrated chat experience is now in Limited Availability stage, meaning any Web Widget customer can turn it on without having to sign the Early Access Program agreement.
It should match most customization options available in the standalone experience. If there is something specific you would like to change but cant', would love to know what.
Both widgets are minified but there is room for further minification. The engineers are working on furthering reducing the footprint of the Web Widget over the next year. Recently, we made changes so that it only fetches the language strings needed and not all languages which has further reduced the size required to load the widget.
The standalone widget assets are cached and behind Cloudflare itself, it shouldn't be adding much of an expense to your CDN costs.
Any progress on this? I just noticed that the web-widget embedded on our page is 375kb. And I have worked a lot to keep the rest of our system down in payload.
It does not even look like it's using "content-encoding: gzip".
