What Are the Current Limitations on Content Blocks?

1. You can check CB product limits over here. Thank you for letting us know about the notification mistake, we'll make sure to correct it.

2. A list view of content blocks is coming really soon. It should be available this summer.

3. Images will take us a little bit longer. I expect them at the beginning of 2022.

4. We'll be upgrading our editing experience throughout this year and I hope the first improvements in this area will be visible in the Autumn.

Talking about editing tools, you've mentioned: control indents, left/right/center. What else you are missing (both in Content Blocks and in the editor)

Ok, just looked over the limitations. Can I request that the number of content blocks in an article be increased from 25 to whatever the to whatever the limits is for all content blocks? It is impossible to create an article as a library of content blocks if 25 is the limit.

Thank you for your feedback. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but as I read your message you'd like to have one library article that contains all content blocks so that it's easy to see them in one place and manage them?

If so you might be interested in knowing that within the next couple of weeks we'll launch a CB central management for content blocks (similar to the article list) where you can see all CB in the account and the articles in which they are used so it's easy to edit and delete them. I hope it will help in your case :)

Also, do you want to know a few more editing features we would like to see add to Guide as well as to content block editing tools?

We'll release it in the next few weeks (we are testing it atm). And yes, it'd be great if you could share what from editing capacities you are missing. 

Ok, for one thing, all editing tools available in Guide should be available to the content blocks.

We would like to see added to the editing tools:

• Search/Replace
• Highlighting on text and in tables
• Spell Checker
• Table - ability to insert a content block inside of a table
• Indexing - think it needs a fix. We have noticed that it never lands on the heading. The links in an index land somewhere near the headings

Content Block Specific

• In content blocks - having difficulty getting the left margin of a content block to match the margin of the article in published view.
• Remove the 200 article limitation for insertion of the same content block (make it unlimited).

Images

• Create a "shared" image library.

The limit of 25 content blocks per page has just rendered them as completely useless for me because I have a lot of repeating content. Also the fact that you can't embed them in tables is annoying as well.

Are there any plans to remove these restrictions?

Yes, we will be considering raising product limits for content blocks. Would you mind sharing a little more details about your case to help us understand how you'd like to use Content Blocks?

We have been using it to document software which returns data fields from a service. The service has lots of functions which can be called, and most of them return the same data fields (as shown below). At the moment we just copy and paste the whole thing every time, which is painful to update. The content blocks would be good because we could just include the relevant blocks on each page, but in some cases there could be a few hundred of them. Having them in tables would make it easier to read because the fields get grouped.

Just wondering if there is any update on this. It looks like people have been requesting the 25 content block limit to be removed for around 7 months now. Is there an ETA on when this will happen?

We plan to revisit our product limits for Content blocks later this year. When it comes to increasing this specific limit (25 content blocks per article) it is dependent on a bigger technical change that has to be completed first. I don't have a timeline for just yet, but the good news is that we are actively working on it already now.
