The new, enhanced article editor provides a more intuitive and enriched content creation experience, designed to streamline your content creation process and boost audience engagement.

With the new article editor, you have access to new editing tools, source code improvements, and new article components that let you embed external content, insert HTML blocks, and create article summaries for your content. In addition, the new editor is designed to generate cleaner and more semantic HTML to enhance the accessibility and search engine optimization (SEO) of your articles.

The transition from the legacy article editor to the new article editor will occur in four phases, beginning Q2 2025 and ending Q1 2026.  This article describes the transition plan and ways in which you can prepare for the upcoming changes.

Transition overview

We plan to completely retire the legacy article editor in Q1 2026. We understand that transitioning to the new article editor may introduce some changes to your articles, which is why we are providing ample time to complete the transition. We want to give you the opportunity to review the compatibility of your articles with the new editor.

Since the new editor operates on a different technological foundation, we understand that some elements may require manual adjustments by users. While these adjustments may lead to additional work, we believe the new editor will enable us to deliver new features more quickly and efficiently, ultimately enhancing your daily workflow. See Fixing table styling when transitioning to the new article editor.

I've embedded code into many of our articles built with the Legacy app - including code that gives the ability to click a block of text and it expands below. Will there be any issues with these articles with this transition to the new editor that I'll need to prepare for or look out for?

Some articles may require manual adjustments during the transition. We recommend testing your key articles early in the rollout phases, as you will still be able to revert to the legacy editor initially. Our team is continuously working to improve the experience and will address issues that arise during the migration based on customer feedback.

Hi @david22  the roll out for this functionality will takes a few weeks, please let me know if you want to get access to it earlier

Hi @patrycja12. That's changed since the original announcement, which had:

I'd definitely be interested in gaining access to the new editor sooner rather than later.

@david22 I have just enabled access to the new editor on your account.

  • May 28, 2025

@patrycja12 Thanks. I'm not seeing it yet but I'll keep an eye out.

Hello @patrycja12 ,

We're launching a new Help Center soon and are very interested in getting early access to the new article editor. Is there a timeline for its broader release, or a way we could join an early access program? We'd prefer to have all our editors start directly on the new experience rather than transitioning from the legacy editor later.

Hi @vikram11,  by July 2, all accounts will be enabled to use the new editor. Of course, if you would like access sooner, I can add your domain immediately. Please let me know if you would like me to do so.

@patrycja12

Yes, please add our domain for access.

The team will be able to use it a month earlier, which is also a big advantage as they will get used to it from the start.

Thanks, Patrycja

Hi Vikram, you domain was added

  • June 2, 2025

Suggestion - add a filter on the “All Articles” page to allow selection of pages using the old/new editor. This will simplify the process of reviewing/converting existing articles.

  • June 3, 2025

Hi Patrycja,

would it be possible to have access sooner as well?

Thanks in advance!

@patrycja12 no change on my end - still see previous editor when I create new article.

Hi @patrycja12

We are also not able to see the new editor. Please check, Thanks Patrycja

Hi,

I've noticed some old articles open by default with the new editor and others open with the old editor. And this happens without anyone reverting. I understand the all old articles should open with the old editor as of now, and new articles open with the new one.

But the behavior we're seeing seems to be random. But as this new editor enrolls new behavior, only a few users on our end are allowed to use the new editor, all others are asked to stay on the old editor until everything as been tested.

Has anyone elso noticed this also ?

@alexandra22 Does this behavior still occur?

When phase 4 commences in January, will the formatting in articles that are not opened in the new editor be impacted? Or will they continue to render as they always have until they're opened in the editor?

Patrycja12

@troy15 They will continue to render exactly as they do today until you open and save them in the new editor. Some content opened in the new editor may be normalized (e.g., wrapped in HTML blocks - You can find more information here) In a few cases, this may require adjustments to your HTML structure, so I strongly recommend reviewing all articles before the final sunset.

The legacy editor will be fully retired, the exact date will be confirmed in Q4 2025.  After that, any article that requires editing will open in the new editor.

  • August 25, 2025

Are you planning to add some way to find pages that are using the legacy editor? There is no filter available for it. When one has a large number of Help Center articles, it's rather difficult to go verify which ones still need work. This should have been available the day the new editor exited EAP.

@david22 yes, we will provide this improvement within the next few weeks.
