Reporting on combined category attributes

I am trying to find a way to combine old and new category values into a new explore attribute for reporting.  The use case is because we are changing our product value hierarchy but want to be able to link the relevant historical software types to the new products.

Below is the visual:

Would this be done with a standard calculated Attribute?

Need some help with the formula for the calculated attribute assuming that is the correct method.

With the multiple attributes would I be able to visualize each standard calculated attribute together in a Pie Chart or Graph Chart for comparison?

I appreciate the help

@Hillary Latham Thanks for the comment.  I actually experimented with groups and sets and they didn't work.  I was able to create each group.  However, I can't add each of the groups to a single query to create a visualization for comparison.

yeah, I don't think you can create subgroups.  But could you create groups A1, A2, B1, and B2?

@Hillary Latham Yes, thank you for that Hilary.  I was able to do that but I couldn't place two different attribute groups within the same query.  Did I do something wrong?  Is there another way to add multiple attribute groups to the same query?

Might be a limitation - are they the same attributes in both groups or different ones?  Either way, I would give some feedback for an enhancement to allow multiples. You can make feedback suggestions here: https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/topics/360001200913
