Removing Support Email

Hi There,

I'm attempting to remove a support email from Zendesk. The email in question is hello@abc.com (which is an alias of hello@abc.ca).

I removed the email from Channels > Email, turned off forwarding in Gmail, deleted the Zendesk forwarding email in gmail, made sure there were no filters on and even disconnected the Zendesk connection from Gmail in the Google Connected Apps.

When I send an email to hello@abc.ca everything works as it should, but when I send an email to the alias: hello@abc.com, it still routes the email through Zendesk.

Any ideas why this is happening and how I can sever the connection between the hello@ email and Zendesk to resolve this?

Thanks,

Hi there!

I took a peek at the settings for your email channel, and I see the @abc.com email address is still there, with a "forwarding check failed" error message. The @abc.ca address hasn't been added as a support address.

You said that the @abc.com email is an alias of the @abc.ca email, so I'm guessing that there is some kind of link between the two that's causing both of them to get sent to Zendesk.

If you could, I'd like you to try removing the @abc.com email from your settings completely, and replacing it with @abc.ca as the default support address. Let me know how that goes, and we'll go from there!

Hey Jason!

You can remove all of your support addresses by going to Settings > Channels > Email. The exception to this is the default, Zendesk-provided email: support@yourdomain.zendesk.com. That one will always be there.

If you don't want emails to be forwarded to your Zendesk to create tickets anymore, just make sure that you turn of auto-forwarded on any email accounts you have set up to forward emails to that Support Address. As long as users don't send email directly to support@yourdomain.zendesk.com, you should be good to go!
