Pros and cons of screenshots in help articles?

I'm curious about what other users have as their best practice for use of screenshots to complement instructions in a multi-language help center. We also have frequent changes to the product, so we have to update screenshots often. The screenshots are only in English as well. So we are thinking we might move away from screenshots and make our text instructions more detailed, as necessary.

Any thoughts?

Hi Sally, We notice it very much with our customers that they like to use screenshots. And even if a button looks a little different after an update, the screenshot usually still helps in context.

Thanks for your feedback, Ronja! I'm considering using more focused screenshots for the specific changes, as you mention, of a button for example, so that we limit the amount of text that is included in English on the screenshots.
