We are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of some highly anticipated features that will empower you to take full control of your custom objects within Zendesk. These features have been designed to enhance your data management capabilities and provide a more tailored experience. Let's dive into the details and explore how these features can benefit your organization.
Enhanced Search: Launching in the second half of July, Enhanced Search will be available for all eligible plans. This feature expands your search capabilities beyond the limitations of the Name field, enabling you to search across all text type fields, including Text, Regex, and Multi-line fields. This enhancement provides a more comprehensive search experience and empowers you to locate asset information more efficiently. We will also have APIs available for you that support Search and autocomplete. Use Case: Software License Management - Suppose you have a custom object called "Software License" with various text-based fields such as License Key, Vendor, and Description. With Enhanced Search, your IT team can now search for software licenses based on specific keywords within these fields. For example, they can search for a particular vendor or license key to quickly locate relevant software licenses. This enhanced search capability saves time and enables faster decision-making when managing software assets.
Enhanced Filtering: Launching in the first half of August, Enhanced Filtering will be available for all eligible plans. This feature allows administrators to filter Lookup field search results and offers powerful filtering options on custom object records. Here's a use case to showcase its effectiveness. Use Case: Vendor Contract Management - Suppose you have a custom object called "Vendor Contract" with a Lookup field referencing the "Vendor" object. With Enhanced Filtering, administrators can filter the lookup results based on specific criteria such as contract type, expiration date, or vendor region. This advanced filtering capability streamlines the process of associating vendor contracts with relevant information, making contract management more efficient and organized.
Standard Field Customization: Launching in the first week of August, this feature will be available for all eligible plans. Standard Field Customization empowers you to personalize the display names of default fields within your custom objects. Specifically, you can set custom display names for the Name field and External ID fields. Here's an example use case to illustrate its flexibility. Use Case: Hardware Asset Tracking - Let's say you have a custom object called "Hardware Asset" where the default Name field. With Standard Field Customization, you can easily change it to "Asset ID" to better align with your organization's asset tracking practices. Additionally, you can customize the display name of the External ID field to "Serial Number," providing more clarity and relevance when managing hardware assets
Object Level Permissions on Custom Objects: Available from the first half of August, this feature will be exclusively available for our Enterprise and Enterprise Plus plans who have Custom Roles. With Object Level Permissions, you can now define Read, Create, Update, and Delete permissions for each custom object, tailored to specific roles within your organization. This granular control ensures that only authorized individuals have access to perform specific actions on your custom objects. Use Case: Asset Access and Management - Imagine you have a custom object called "Asset" that contains important details about your organization's assets, such as equipment, devices, or software licenses. With Object Level Permissions, you can assign Read access to the IT team responsible for managing assets, enabling them to view asset information, perform audits, and track asset status. On the other hand, you can limit Update and Delete permissions to a smaller group of administrators or asset managers, ensuring that only authorized personnel can make changes to asset records. This fine-grained control enhances security, accountability, and streamlines asset management processes.
We are excited to bring these features to you as part of our Early Access Program (EAP). Your valuable feedback and insights will play a crucial role in shaping these capabilities for wider release. As we release each feature, expect an email from me with more details.
