What's the best practice for migrating Salesforce Accounts and Contacts to Zendesk? Is it better to export from Salesforce and then upload to Zendesk or to just sync from Salesforce?

Steve,

My name is Patrick and I am an Associate Customer Advocate with Zendesk.  Doing a bulk import via CSV is the easiest way to get the sync done, https://support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203661996-Bulk-importing-users-. 

If you are on a trial account, we would need to enable this setting for you and that would require a request in a ticket. 

Syncing contacts via Salesforce, while not difficult, does involve installing apps in both Zendesk and Salesforce, managing the setting for the sync, and is way more time consuming.  Especially since it seems like you will delete the app after the conversion.

Patrick (or anyone else),

I am also looking for an alternative to using Salesforce cases and solutions for customer support - is it really right that if I use a Zendesk trial I won't be able to load more than 1000 users? Do you have any other limits on the trial version?

The reason I'm asking is because I want to make sure the alternative works, then start paying for it, not pay up front then realise it won't meet our requirements. Not even being able to load the data looks like a pretty fundamental stumbling block.

Hey Mark,

There are some trial limitations in place during a Support trial to prevent any sort of malicious activity during that trial period. If you do experience any issues during your trial period I would encourage you to reach out to support@zendesk.com and they they can assist you further :)
