How to make your Help Center Public

Hello,

Currently to view my Help Center you must login to view it. I would like to make it open so anyone who has the link can view my knowledge base. Can anyone let me know how I would go ahead and do this.

Thank you all!

Hi Alex S,

There are two things to consider in order to make HC content being public.

1. Make sure that "Require sign in" box isn't ticked from HC General Settings.

2. View permission is controlled at Section level, hence when you edit a section you'll see three options for "Who can view?" parameter:

  • Anyone
  • Signed-in Users
  • Agents and Managers

You'll find more details from this earlier post (scroll down to Emily's answer).

We started out with a public HC and then switched to SSO with JSON. Our content is still available with the URL only. I dont' find the "require sign in" box anywhere. Or maybe I'm missing it. Where do I find it? I've been through every settings page.

Hey Anneliese! Sorry for the late response!

In your Help Center, click on General, and select Help Center settings from the drop down menu. Then scroll down to the Security section. The Require sign in box is in the Security section, which is the third one down.

Hi Mikael,

We noticed that too, and then we found that when we posted an article, the section appears. In other words, if the section is empty, it won't show to end users (signed in or not).

Also, I found that when I'm in Guide Admin, if I am in Customize Design, I can preview the HC as "Anonymous" and it shows what any user sees before signing in.

If that's not how it's working for you, perhaps something else is up!
