Due Date Timezone

I'm working at an organization that uses the same support ticketing system in locations around the globe and I have a question on how the Due Date (due_at) field for "Task" tickets works, especially pertaining to Timezones. As far as I understand it, all times are stored within Zendesk as GMT and are displayed to different users as whatever local timezone they're set to. What I'm wondering is:

a.) Is this a correct assumption (and is it the organization's timezone setting or individual user's settings that determine what is displayed to a given user)?

b.) What timezone is displayed to our clients who can see this Due Date?

Thanks!!

Hi Mac,

a.) Due Dates are going to work a little differently. The date that is going to be subject to the timezone set on your local machine. For instance, since I'm in CST in the U.S., if I set a due date for July 17, then the due date that shows up on the ticket will be for 7/17/16 17:00:00 to adjust for my -5hr GMT difference. However that time does adjust based on the user viewing it and that adjustment is determined by the time zone set in the user's profile. So if someone is viewing that due date and is in +13hr GMT, then the date will show 7/18/16 instead.

b.) Your clients will have the Due Date field adjusted based on their time zone as well. So if you're making that field visible to end users, they'll see the same scenario that I described above for the due date field.

Cheers,
