Does anyone have experience using a ChromeBook or ChromeBox with Zendesk?

I wanted to set my agents up using these and bought both an HP and an ASUS.

The agents using these, and not those on pcs in the next cubicle, are experiencing freezing and rebooting when on Talk and Chat in particular. It can happen several times a day.

I have seen little or no comments online about these devices being unstable generally or when in use with Zendesk.

Thanks,

Hi Scot

Been using one for ages with no problems... How much RAM do they have?

Thanks Carsten,

They came with 4gb. Do they need more? Admittedly they are fairly intensive users with a dozen or more tabs open and multiple chats running along with talk.

Mine had 8gb. Try the process monitor on Chromebook to see if that's an issue: https://www.howtogeek.com/234454/how-to-view-your-chromebooks-hardware-specifications-and-system-information/

Thanks. But it never happens when we are watching... :)... Everything works fine and then we walk away and sometime later I hear the agent crying...

I am currently trying to catch something in the chrome debug logs.

I think I will order one with more ram as well and test with that.

Yeah, luckily they aren't that expensive... Good luck bug hunting

Yeah keep us posted.  We are using two acer chromebook 15 units.  But haven't turned on Talk yet.  I'm hoping they are able to keep up.

Good luck.

So... we had 1 HP with 2gb memory and 3 ASUS with 4gb and they were all having issues when working with multiple chat sessions and a voice call. I believe that all of those have the lower, celeron processor or equivalent.

I upped the memory of them all to 8gb and bought one Acer with an i3 and 8gb.

They have all been operational now for a few days without a problem. I will need to buy some more in the next month but currently it looks like the base models with the lower processor will work as long as the memory is maxed out. 8gb is the max that I have seen for these.

The next question is whether or not Microsoft are going to put out a Windows10s device that will compete with these for maintenance and control...

If I have any issues with the chromeboxes in the next week or two, I will let you know...
