Categorize Content Blocks and/or increase 'Insert content block' list limit

Loving Content Blocks so far! Only had it for about a week, but definitely already seeing some massive time-saving benefits from it.

Something that's bothering me though:

1) The 'Insert content block' view only displays a max of 15 Content Blocks within the list. We already have over 15 Content Blocks and this will keep growing which will make it difficult for users to know what's available to be used. An example would be; We like to add links to the end of our articles to send users to our online learning platform where the topic of the article relates to one of our learning courses. We have over 15 courses, so unless an agent knows the names of all of our courses, they're unlikely to see (and therefore miss) some Content Blocks.

2) Would it ever be possible to categorize the Content Blocks? This would make it easier for agents to know what kind of content is there for use, and will make it easier to find the Content Blocks they need.

Hi @Paul Kiersey

Thanks a lot for your feedback. These are some interesting points and I'm noting them down.

We are not planning any bigger improvements on the insert content block modal at the moment as we are busy with different ideas of application but we are hoping to add soon a simple list view of all content blocks in the system so that, in your case, and the agent could check the title of a content block there and then search for it in the insert window.

We are planning to keep improving that list view as well so your categorization comment is really interesting. Can you tell me more about it? Would you have use of generic categories (e.g. maps, forms, multimedia) or some specific ones to your organization?

Hey @Katarzyna Karpinska

Thanks for the response!

I'll look forward to seeing a list view as I think that'd be really helpful.

With regards to the categories, three we'd definitely use in our organization already would be:

  • Regional Disclaimers (for features in our product that are region-exclusive)
  • Training Links (links to add to the foot of an article which link to our external training platform courses)
  • Standard Disclaimers (which could include disclaimers for early access features, latest version-required notices etc.)

These are just some I've thought would be handy so far, but I'm sure there are more. I believe I read in another community thread that Content Blocks may be developed further to include more than just plain text, so that would certainly allow for more categories also.

@Paul Kiersey Thank you for this, and yes we are planning to add image support to content blocks in near future :)
