Can Help Center editor manage non-breaking space?

Hi,

We use Zendesk Help Center to write our articles for our Help Center. We actually support 2 languages : English and French. In French, non-breaking space are essential, especially with punctuation. If we add manually a   character, it appears on the article preview, but it got deleted from the code editor; it is quite impossible to manage... (we can't remember if there is a non-breaking space here and there...etc).

How does the Help Center editor manage non-breaking space? Do you have practical tips for adding/finding non-breaking spaces in articles, without needing to edit the code?

Thanks,

Antoine

Hey Antoine! That sounds unexpected to me, but I'm not positive. I'm asking around for help from someone on the product side of things. Will loop back around here shortly!

Hey Antoine,

I've been informed by our Product Team that they made some changes on their end to address this issue. Can you confirm whether or not this addresses the non-breaking space?

Let me know!

Hey Patricia,

I believe this was addressed a while back. Are you still experiencing issues with non-breaking spaces in the editor?

Any chance you could provide a screenshot of what you see on your end?

Let me know!

Hi there,

Could somebody from the Zendesk Community Team please confirm whether or not Zero Width Spaces are supported in Help Center articles?

While the editor does appear to support the Word Joiner format character, that doesn't seem to be the case for ZWS.

Hello Christopher

Please note that Zero-width spaces are indeed supported in Zendesk Guide Articles.

You may test this yourself by copy-pasting the example text from this Wikipedia article:

Zero-width space

Example:

LoremIpsumDolorSitAmetConsecteturAdipiscingElitSedDoEiusmodTemporIncididuntUtLaboreEtDoloreMagnaAliquaUtEnimAdMinimVeniamQuisNostrudExercitationUllamcoLaborisNisiUtAliquipExEaCommodoConsequatDuisAuteIrureDolorInReprehenderitInVoluptateVelitEsseCillumDoloreEuFugiatNullaPariaturExcepteurSintOccaecatCupidatatNonProidentSuntInCulpaQuiOfficiaDeseruntMollitAnimIdEstLaborum.

If you copy-paste this text into an editor that does not support them, you will see that the text breaks at the spaces.

In comparison, this text is not separated by zero-width spaces:

LoremIpsumDolorSitAmetConsecteturAdipiscingElitSedDoEiusmodTemporIncididuntUtLaboreEtDoloreMagnaAliquaUtEnimAdMinimVeniamQuisNostrudExercitationUllamcoLaborisNisiUtAliquipExEaCommodoConsequatDuisAuteIrureDolorInReprehenderitInVoluptateVelitEsseCillumDoloreEuFugiatNullaPariaturExcepteurSintOccaecatCupidatatNonProidentSuntInCulpaQuiOfficiaDeseruntMollitAnimIdEstLaborum.

Hope that helps, have a great day!

I had the same issue with articles titles.

Just press ALT + 255 to insert the non-breaking space before the question mark. You can also copy paste it or use this one :  ?
