Articles displayed in incorrect order on the home page

Hi,

My home page is designed in such a way that clicking a category displays the sections in that category, and then the articles. The articles are displayed in an arbitrary order and not like I manually ordered them in the backend.

If I click one of the categories to see just the articles in that category/sections, the articles are displayed correctly.

Any idea where to look to see what's causing this?
