Tracking / Monitoring the use of Macro

Hello Zendesk community, 

 

I am looking for creating a dashboard about the use of our macro. 

I want to know the top 5 of the more used macro but I can not find on Explore :(

The only figures I have are the column of “Utilisation with 7 days or 30 days" but I want to integrate this figure in my support dashboard.

Hi Barbara,

 

This is not straight forward unfortunately.   A few options I can think of are:

 

1) Add a tag to your ticket when the macros fires.  You can then report on this but it would only tell you that the macro was used at least once on that ticket.  So if it was used multiple times, it won't show.

 

2) API - Not Explore reporting but you could leverage the API ‘List Macros’ with a sideload.  This would allow you to extract the data and report on it. (max 30 days)/

 

3) 3rd party apps - there are a few in the marketplace that will report on macro usage.

At the moment, Zendesk Explore does not provide a native, out-of-the-box metric or attribute to directly report on the top used macros by count or ranking. The "Utilization with 7 days or 30 days" columns you see are summary figures that show macro usage rates but don't break down individual macro usage details in a way that can be aggregated and ranked on dashboards.
 
However, Ross is correct. You may use the following methods he provided and reach out to us if you have further questions or concerns.
