Upon trying to save an article we've just edited, we're sometimes getting this message, as if we're x'ing out of the page without trying to save:
“Leave site? Changes you made may not be saved.” There's the option to Leave or Cancel. If you click Leave, the changes aren't saved. If you click Cancel, the box just pops up again.
A couple of us first started seeing this about a month ago. Another person on my team had seen it months earlier than that.
We've had to redo changes on many occasions. The only “workaround” is to copy the changes we just made (the whole article's HTML if the changes are widespread) so if it happens, we can get them back without starting from scratch.
