Ability to merge organizations

I have Orgs from 2014, with over 2k of tickets and 1k of users that I'd love to use this feature on. I'm looking forward to it. 

Hey @michael18 this is fantastic to hear, the good news is you'll be able to merge this org into another one once the Beta is live.

However, I would assume a lot of those 2k tickets are Closed, and during the Beta we won't be able to update Closed tickets. This is something we'll have once we GA, hopefully in the early new year.

To answer your questions around largest and oldest, I'll share a couple examples. I would think it important to keep all information from both orgs.

Thanks @michael13, I'd love to understand how your two organization records got so populous? Is there a generic email mapping - such as gmail.com - or is there a different explanation?

I wanted to provide a status update on the product development of Organization Merge as my last update was way back in August.

We now have a fully functioning beta experience for admins to merge two organizations into one, with a winner (retained) and loser (deleted), similar to how merging tickets and users works today.

It will automatically transfers all users, open tickets, and domains from the loser to the winner, update the audit logs, and has an upper limit of 10k tickets or users that can be moved - and depending on concurrent usage, takes just a few minutes to complete.

We're gearing up to launch as an Open Beta in the next month or two, which requires handling of error scenarios, race conditions, table locks, and comprehensive testing. 

We're also working in parallel on the improvements to move the feature from Beta to Generally Available, notably updating closed tickets.

We're looking forward to getting this into your hands as soon as possible, and in the meantime if you have any questions please continue to use this community thread.

We'll be launching this feature as an Open Beta, meaning there is no opt in to gain access, it will be available in the product for all customers, restricted to Admins only, and labelled as a beta.

Awesome @clayton11!  As an Open Beta you won't need to opt-in / sign-up for any early access program (EAP), it'll just be turned on in your account.

As Brett has posted already, we've just launched the open beta of organization merge.

I'm very glad to be able to provide this functionality after so many years, and we have a roadmap to get the capability to GA in the near future including some necessary improvements that we know are missing in the beta.

I'm going to marking this topic as completed now, further feedback can be shared in the new beta community.
