There are a few requirements to be part of this Early Access Program (EAP):

  • You need a Suite / Support Enterprise or Enterprise Plus account that has the Zendesk Agent Workspace activated.
  • You’re interested in sharing some information about the custom layouts you created with layout builder and how it impacts your agents.

If your account meets these prerequisites, fill out >> this form << to sign up for the early access program.  After you sign up and we confirm you are eligible for the EAP, we'll notify you via email when the layout builder EAP is activated in your account!

Sign-ups for this EAP are open and will continue on a rolling basis until further notice.

UPDATE (posted 6.27.23): We are excited to announce the release of layouts + contextual workspaces functionality. This enhancement will make layouts more powerful by allowing you to set a layout to show by a specific brand, group of agents, a single agent, and set of forms, and more! This capability is automatically available to all customers who are participating in the Layout Builder EAP

Hi @paul47, This looks very interesting!  Is it possible to enroll in the EAP in a sandbox instance?

Hi @lila11 yes, it is possible to enroll in the EAP in a Sandbox instance, please provide the name of your sandbox instance in the sign up form, and we can turn Layout Builder on for you on that specific instance. EAP sign-ups are live now and we are targeting an end of March 2023 go-live. A more exact date will be announced once the team gets closer to release ready. Yay! :)

This feature will only be available for Suite Enterprise and Enterprise Plus?

Hi @stephen49 - Yes, that's correct. Layout Builder will only be available for customers that are on a Suite / Support Enterprise or Enterprise Plus plan AND has the Zendesk Agent Workspace activated.

Well that's certainly disappointing

@stephen49 - I understand your frustration around how we've packaged this feature.   Should you be interested in Layout Builder once it is generally available, please consider requesting your AE to boost your account to Enterprise. We hope that you'll give it a try!

Hey folks!

Extending a warm invite for everyone on this thread to join us on Tuesday, November 14th at 11 AM CDT for our live PM Roundtable on Layout Builder community event, where you'll get to live chat with @paul47, myself, and other PMs looking after customization at Zendesk.

We'll be going over the 2024 roadmap and long-term vision of Layout Builder, in addition to our customization strategy around Agent Workspace.

We'll then open it up to the floor for discussion on any questions regarding Layout Builder, feedback on the current state of the product, feedback on our roadmap, feature requests regarding Agent Workspace customization that you would like to see us bake in, sharing best practices around creating custom layouts, and so much more.

We'd love to see y'all there!

Cheers,
JJ

Hello Mr. Von,
we have a suite professional and the only thing we want is to change the direction of the email flow, like we have it in outlook.
By converting outlook emails to ZD we currently have the issue, that everything is in the wrong direction.
I can not understand that this issential setup will only be for enterprise licence.

This mess is essential for many companies and a topic that forces us to use emails instead of ZD many times. I wish that ZD will think about that again.
We decided to use ZD, because we hoped to get this feature soon. Now we need to think about everything again. We wont get the budget for enterprise.

Hi @dennis35 - Thank you so much for your post and for clearly outlining the pain points that you are facing in regards to the set up of conversations in Zendesk. I can completely empathize with how this can be a challenging experience for you and your agents. While I don't have any news to share at this point, I want to reiterate that we are taking this feedback seriously and that the Zendesk team will take your feedback into consideration during our planning cycles when pricing and packaging is discussed. Thanks again for taking the time to write in, we truly appreciate it.

I've signed up for this but didn't get any confirmation. I've also tried some of the Beta programs and I didn't get any confirmation either. How I do I find the status of my application to the EAP or Beta program.

My company is on Enterprise plan if that helps.

Thanks

@elmer - Layout Builder was made generally available as of last Tuesday, November 21st. I checked your instance details and see that your account is eligible for the feature.

You should be able to access the feature by going to the Admin Center. Under Workspaces > Agent tools, there is a section called "Layouts". This is where you can create your custom layouts and apply them as a global default for all your agents. Should you need more nuanced control over when to show a custom layout, you can use Contextual Workspaces to determine what condition will trigger the appropriate layout.

Thanks,

Paul
