What is the recommended approach to building an app in a test sandbox them moving that app to a production environment?

Hello @eric20 we have a doc here for creating your app: Building your app

The only way you can move an app is to download from sandbox account (app builder code tab has a download button) and then install it in production account.

Please note that app requirements are not yet supported by app builder so resources like custom objects or custom ticket fields will have to be manually recreated by admins in your production account.

I hope this helps!

Hi @eric20 , thanks for your question! As Audrey has mentioned above, the current options are to either install the downloaded app code in a production account or manually re-build the app using the same prompts in a production account. We totally understand this isn't the ideal experience and plan to evolve App Builder into a portable, resumable workspace across environments, where you can move apps between sandbox, staging, and production while maintaining full version history and prompts. This is something we are planning for early 2026.

Thanks for the recommendations!

For now, I will take a look at downloading the files and manually installing them to our production environment. I'll look forward to seeing the new functions to allow moving apps between environments!
