I am not able to figure out if I'm doing something wrong, if there's an issue with my instance, or something inherent to the Explore Dashboard tools.

In particular, when I multi-select a few dashboard elements, and I want to perform either a copy & paste or delete, I'm getting inconsistent results. When I copy & paste between tabs, generally I only get 1 of the elements (sometimes I don't get any), and it seems to place it randomly on the new tab. When I delete multiple items, the screen turns black, a delete confirmation pops, I confirm, the screen reloads and nothing has changed.

Does this match anyone else's experience, and have you been able to resolve the issue? Is there a better way for editing elements in bulk?

I have an operational overview dashboard with tabs for each of the 10 groups. Is this the result of overloading the dashboard? I'm pulling data only from one dataset.

Hey Matthew! Happy to help confirm that I also experience some of these. First though I'm going to mention there's a brand new editor coming "soon". This is supposed to fix a lot of behaviors especially around moving elements, but there's no timeline on when it's available to everyone. (I'm waiting on this one for several similar types of issues.)

1. Copying multiple items only copies one - Yep, same thing.
2. Pasting puts the pasted item someplace random on the new tab - I also experience this and it's very annoying.
3. When I delete multiple items, the screen turns black, a delete confirmation pops, I confirm, the screen reloads and nothing has changed. - This I don't experience! I get the dark screen, confirmation pops up, but the items are gone when I hit yes.

Hi @matthew14,
thanks for sharing your feedback regarding the Dashboard builder.

It is indeed difficult to select and move elements within the current builder, in particular when you have dashboards with many components and tabs.
As @cj99 mentioned, a new builder beta is now available for Enterprise customers allowing you to move and rearrange components easily.

Here are some of the features you might be interested in:

  • Automatic alignment: Easily add, arrange, and resize modules using a snap-to-grid design.
  • Dynamic resizing: Dashboards automatically expand as new queries are added.
  • Undo/Redo and Delete shortcuts: By using CMD-Z/CMD-Y and the backspace, you can undo/redo and delete components.

We will open the beta to Professional customers before the end of the year.
In the meanwhile, you can learn more about how to use it and know what features will come in the future.

Thanks again for your interest.
Walter
